wine configuration

Has anyone successfully got wine up and running on their machine? If so
could I see your config file and the layout of your ~/.wine/dosdevices
directory. I keep getting the message:

Invalid path L"c:\\windows" for L"windows" directory: does not exist.
Perhaps you have not properly edited your Wine configuration file
(/home/johnnyquest/.wine/config)

The wine version is wine-20040505 installed as a package.
