supported hardware / recommendations - network adapter

Hello,

I saw that the list of supported network adapters on the supported hardware page is quite short.
On the other side there are quite a few device drivers to be found in the manual e.g. for Broadcom adapters that are not listed at all on the supported hardware page BCE(4), BGE(4), BNX(4).
Can one assume if devices are listed in the manual, they should work properly even though they aren't listed on the supported hardware page?

Can anyone recommend network adapters (10GbE/25GbE/100GbE) that work well with Dragonfly BSD or are the Myricom and Intel the only recommended/working?
I would prefer adapters that are not to expensive or maybe even available as used.

I noticed that the Mellanox ConnectX-2/3/4 cards are available relativly cheap, but since the manual isn't mentioning the mlx4en/mlx5en drivers I assume they haven't been ported from FreeBSD, correct?
(Well on FreeBSD they use COMPAT_LINUXKPI so I assume they only work through a Linux compatibility layer.)

Best regards,
Christoph
