The main porter of ZFS to FreeBSD is Pawel Jakub Dawidek (probably
spelt a bit wrong)  aka pjd at freebsd.org, who is most certainly still
alive, and continuing work on ZFS, HAST, GEOM_GATE, and other
interesting storage stuff.
