    I told this to Chris but I will also say it officially so there is no
    confusion... the original 3-day waiting period was meant for fairly
    complex code changes, like new features.  The stuff Chris is doing
    (ANSIfication and code cleanups) obviously does not require a 3-day 
    waiting period, 1-day is just fine (at least for starters) and
    even immediately is fine for tiny changes (though always do a recompile
    to be sure it doesn't break the build).

    And, for that matter, simple bug fixes which fix system crashes don't
    really need a waiting period either, since you generally can't make
    things any worse :-)

    And things like documentation changes, which can be trivially backed out
    or fixed after the fact without impacting the rest of the system, don't
    really need a waiting period at all.

    So its a matter of common sense.  I realize that I, and Joerg too,
    probably bend these rules a bit more then we should.  Just hit us with
    a clue stick if we blow things up too often :-).
