"Needed" would be a strong word. Ever seen a BSD break because of tiny 
games in base? Even windows ships their server systems with the ability 
to install games.
You are right, the system should have the "ability to install games".
But shipping the ISO with those games increases the size of the ISO and 
make the build time longer, not much but it's a step in the right direction.
