Gentoo/DragonflyBSD pros and cons

I would like to know if using Gentoo/DragonflyBSD instead of DragonflyBSD standalone if I want to improve, extend 
DragonflyBSD.

What are the Gentoo/DragonflyBSD pros and cons???
