:This confirms that something is wrong with the mail->nntp (or vice 
:versa) gateway. I sent that test mail AFTER joerg sent his mail about 
:the objformat commit. I'm still missing one commit message about gzip in 
:my newsclient.

    I got it immediately.  Send me private email with the email address
    you are subscribed to the list as and I will check the mail logs to
    see if there were any delivery problems to your address.
