The subject says it all.

Has anyone lately tried listening to an mp3 stream and extract a large
tarball? You're bound to get skipping.
Not here. Not under any conceivable load.

'Course, the music is across the room on Marantz, Teac, Akai, etc.
... where it belongs... Give 'em a HDD for storage if you must...
(ever try attaching a pair of *serious* spekaers, i.e. Klipsch horns,
or good-sized Bass-reflex with Helmholtz resonators to a Pee Cee?)
And then there's of course the dual make and mp3 listening case, where you
see one make process totally run down the other and where the mp3 playing
becomes more silence than audio.
De-install the MP3 player in favor of 'bespoke' sound system (i.e. not a
computer)
- problem goes away. Totally. ;-)

But that's definitely not my area to work on.

'ipse dixit'
