I don't see a reason for this, too, since make's upgrade target has
already been fixed not to overwrite mailer.conf. And, as you say, it's
no file being partly overridden...so what the fsck? What really
bothers me is /etc/services being overwritten on every make upgrade,
so modifying getservent() and its aunts and uncles makes pretty much
sense to me.
