:Hello,
:
:a kernel change sometime between 20/1/2004 and 1/2/2004 seems to
:cause LCP problems for me. I've put up a typescript of an unsuccessful
:session on http://www.cc.ece.ntua.gr/~aoiko/typescript.bad (compare
:with http://www.cc.ece.ntua.gr/~aoiko/typescript.ok). The only change
:I could find that could be relevant is the systimer stuff, but I don't
:have the time to do a binary search. Any ideas on what I should check
:next?
:
:Thanks,

:Hi !
:
:> I'll setup two machines and play with user ppp to try to reproduce
:> the problem.
:(Peter)
:I have a similar Problem with user-ppp and DSL.
:Sometimes it just hangs and is only killable with -KILL.
:Leaving a stale configured tun0 behind...
:This behaviour started in the same period.
:If I can do anything to provide information, let me know.
:
:Cheers

I setup a null modem cable and did my best to duplicate the session,
but was not able to make it fail. It worked every time.
Aggelos, try the abolute latest kernel and if it doesn't work try
to capture a 'tcpdump -s 1024 -x -i INTERFACE -l' of the session
along with the log.
There was a bug related to that time period where I accidently broke
delayed soft interrupts, which broke serial ports. But it was fixed
later on.
Peter, I'm not sure what is going on with your DSL issue. It may or
may not be related... I'm assuming you are talking about running ppoe
over ethernet. I would need to see a packet trace during the initial
negotiation and another one for a minute or two while it is stalled
out.
