Yes, I wasn't able to compile KDE-themes, too, but I'm not very familiar with 
make & friends.

I'm using good old Plastik, the color scheme is Human (Dapper) 
(http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=39402). My icon set is 
nuvoX (http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=38467). 

On Linux, I've used Baghira with the Aqua-Blue color set and nuvoX icons, too. 
The window frame was provided by an Mac-OS-X-like Xgl theme.
