Julia programming on DragonflyBSD

So is this a case where the freebsd support is highly specific to that OS
(bringing a case where FreeBSD is supported but DragonFly is not)?
According to deltaports, version v1.7.1 from FreeBSD ports does not
build.and has Julia never built there.
If somebody adds patches to sports to get it to build, I could add that to
Ravenports.
Does it require a bootstrap compiler because apparently a lot of the
compiler is written in Julia itself.
