named stuck in umtxsl?

I’ve an old 5.4 gateway — it’s been ultra reliable for years. Well, until recently where a couple of days can pass and then dhcpd gets stuck in vending leases cause it’s stuck waiting for a dynamic DNS update in named (bind 9.18.37) in state umtxsl. When that happens, the process is immune to ``kill -9`` and fails to reboot. I have to power cycle the system.

Has anyone else encountered issues like this?
