Thanks, good to know. However i tried going on IRC before sending an 
email here and efnet gets me some weird x509 errors when i try to 
connect like "certificate is not valid for any names, but wanted to 
match irc.efnet.org" or "certificate relies on legacy Common Name field, 
use SANs instead".

I've tried every servers listed on the webpage and they either have the 
same problem, their certificate expired, or the server was down.
The maintainer of the bouncer software i'm using seems to think that 
efnet has an invalid certificate and i couldn't find a way to contact 
the admin. I also tried to connect via the web chat but it just failed 
to connect to the IRC server.
