Help with Remapping Key 49 on German Keyboard Layout

Hmm.   The only two are the ones you tried... xmodmap and setkbmap are the
only two I know of to actually rebind keys.  Some other things to try:

* See if you can rebind the key in the window manager you are using.  If
you can, this might be your best bet since it will be a layer on top of
whatever the base keyboard mapping is.

* You can bind a key to a shell script using "xbindkeys".  You might be
able to use that to reapply changes, or create a sequence that sets the map
and then reapplies changes.
