Press any key to reboot - requires power off and back on

Hi,

Is it just me or is this common - after doing and install and selecting 
reboot, the installer shuts down and displays:

Press any key to reboot

It doesn't respond to any key press or ctrl-alt-delete. I have to press 
and hold power to power off and then repower on.

In the running system, this isn't an issue:

shutdown -r now

works fine.
