Hello Tobias,

I'm using a HP laptop, and I use the touchpad without issue, I will try to write a little summary of what is needed.

I had to add moused_enable="YES" to /etc/rc.conf, as suggested on (moused_enable="YES" #this is needed for keyboard and touchpad support)

Then for the synaptics touchpad specific part refer to the psm manpage ( specifically the LOADER TUNABLES section that I'm copying in this message :

You have to put these settings in /boot/loader.conf.
I have the following (as I wanted to disable tapping, the problem is that you can't disable tapping without disabling scrolling :/)

I take the opportunity to mention that there are many tips regarding laptops at, even if one has to browse the different models pages to find the relevant pieces of information.
