First, I'm happy it was considered but sad to hear it didn't seem
viable. More comments inline below.

Seems you've considered and vetted musl already, but I must admit
I don't know what would depend on libm etc. if musl is the libc.

And opening the door to many users who just want to build static
binaries to their customers, which goes way beyond distro packagers
and would make the life of commercial software vendors easier. But my
use case would be purely as a private ports tree that allows me to
skip rebuilding when I want to run on musl and glibc hosts.

Which Solaris?

Are you aiming for a pkgsrc alternative?

Last question: will it stay a pure Makefile system or eventually
involve one or more of your Ada based tooling? I'm glad someone wrote
open source in Ada for a non-niche task, so I can't hide my excitement
when I imagine you might cause more adoption of Ada instead of more C
in Linux and Unix distros.

Hmm, this is unexpected since one would expect that the ports tree has
the BSD libc patches in place and so is unlikely to require musl
fixes. But it's possible of course.
