It seems to be preferable to use entire disks as opposed to the creation of slices.
Also, not strictly necessary but nicely beneficial, is having a larger SSD so that swap cache can be used. This is a really nice feature that reduces latency when accessing folders with a large number of files for instance by caching filesystem meta data. It can also cache data if you'd like it do.
One example could be getting a 120 Gb SSD and giving yourself 50 Gb of swap to start out with and then turning swapcache on by
