startxfce4 halts over "libexpat.so.1"

Ran into something a few minutes ago.

On DragonflyBSD 3.8.2, Xfce starts reliably with "startxfce4". No config needed.

On DragonflyBSD 4.0.1/2, "startxfce4" halts with the following message:

failed to set mtr: Device not configured
Shared object "libexpat.so.1" not found, required by  "libfontconfig.so.1"
xinit: connection to X server lost

Both Xorg and Xfce were installed from binary packages.

Am I missing something?
