Last year.

I had started to port the latest FreeBSD sound code; the work-in-progress
branch is visible here:

Caveats:
- a possible locking bug, watching youtube videos causes a hard reboot.
  Playing local videos is fine.
- missing /dev cloning, only one application can use the sound subsystem at
  one time
