Okay, I re-read it and see you mean remove GCC 4.4 and replace it with
clang. The chances are good that something that doesn't build with gcc
4.7 also won't build with clang.
I think you are correct that these issues will recede in time, but I
think that's probably a couple of years away (e.g. after FreeBSD 8.4 EOL
and maybe 9.x EOL too)
