darner crashed, apparently during hammer

It was in the middle of compiling some TeX-related package and crashed. I 
found out when I tried to push a git repo to it. It has this error on the 
screen:

I'm going to reboot it, but if I get a kernel dump out of it, it will be at 
least 15 hours before I can copy it to leaf. I did turn the disk scheduler off, 
and it survived a few nights of running periodic.
