All of the other posters gave you correct advice, but I want
to emphasize the important points:

First, as Thomas said, Welcome to the DragonFly project.

Second, as Jeremy said, you should install the fonts/ms-ttf
(TrueTypeFont) package to fix the ugly-font problem.  This
will pull in other packages, like ttmkfdir and cabextract.
Follow the instructions you will see at the end of the package
installation.  This is important.

If number two doesn't help, ask us again.
