I used the following config:
dev tun
secret secret.key
proto udp
port 4444
float
local 192.168.0.1
up /root/up.sh
verb 0

and 
#!/bin/sh
ifconfig tun0 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.2

for the configuration. YMMV
