Konqueror painfully slow on browsing the net

Actually, it could be IPv6.  Many servers apparently claim to support
IPv6 but don't, and this causes timeouts.  You could try two things:

1. Disable IPv6 in the kernel
2. Start your KDE session with KDE_NO_IPV6=true
