CPU-Time needed?

My computer is idle most of the time (only using irssi, links, vim and 
gcc - for learning C). I can also do this on a slower PC, so I'm asking 
if anything is needed.
Bulkbuilds, Head-builds, stresstests, any other things?

It's not a highend-PC, but since I'm not using it most of the time maybe 
someone has an idea.

P.S.: This box won't be unused/available forever, but I think it would 
be bad to leave it unused for months.
