Really?  Of all the vendors (except maybe Intel), they seem to me the 
most open (putting internal developers on open source projects, for 
instance).  Most of the chipset and graphics vendors will brush you off 
or outright ignore you.

Granted, nobody makes datasheets anymore like the good ol' days 
anymore... <sigh>
