Unexpected device names

Should partitions have their device name set? It's really unexpected to 
for the following incarnations of disklabel to give the following 
messages, except for the first:

disklabel da0
disklabel da0s4a
disklabel da0s4b
disklabel da0s4
disklabel da0s4c
disklabel da0s4d
. ..
disklabel da0s4p
