Are you sure those are native SATA?

Not just PATA controllers with SATA interface chips (generally made by
Marvell, usually easily seen)?
Good point, GA, but AFAIK that style is out of production
on economic grounds - see below.
The Sil3114 is an all-in-one 4-port chip. The only other IC
on the PCB is an AMD 82G6518 for the BIOS.
2-port versions are HK$ 130 or so, 4-port HK$ 170 or so, and
prices still dropping.
Boxed with one SATA cable and a rear-apron bracket
with single socket for external SATA.
No margin in those prices for extra IC's from Marvel.  ;-)
