I just browsed into the topic, but K8WE is fully based on NVIDIA kludge

I agree on the Nvidia thing, i experienced many subtile problems during
the time since the release of nforce1.
But why you say that makes the AMD Platform bad?
I just heard AMD bet on NVIDIA, this word was out from their mouth, if
it was from a mag editor, I won't be that serious.
VIA had it's buggy days, and the Chipsets are fairly ok, and the AMD
Chipsets doing a good job ever since.

YES, VIA is my favorite and will always be, but as I said AMD would
like to bet on NVIDIA, this really forces me to leave AMD on SMP
platform.
ATI is also coming with their Chipsets which have to show their quality,
and there's also ULI left.

everybody in it.

But these chipsets are not used widely as VIA's, and you could get
lots of trouble in open source world, either SATA will not work or
USB not work, or ACPI won't work (NVIDIA always has this problem, and
will continue the story.)
