Best way to replace existing FreeBSD install with DFBSD?

Situation is as follows - I've got a triple-boot machine here
(2x Windoze, FreeBSD-current and Linux) and after playing a bit with an
older DFBSD on a different machine I'd rather replace the FBSD
installation with DFBSD. So far, so good.

Original idea was just to install from a recent ISO over the FBSD
install but I then read the warnings on the bsdinstaller homepage
about the installer not being able to properly handle a partition "in
the middle" of the disk (both Win XP and Linux are installed in the
extended partition which comes after the FBSD partition).

Is the above mentioned caveat still a problem? If so, would it be
better to "downgrade" to a minimal install of FBSD 4.x and then
source-upgrade to DFBSD?

Any advice appreciated.
