Cannot compile Perl-5.8.6

Sorry, but I'm confused, as usual.  Your post seems to imply that
there is something wrong with the perl5.8 port, but it compiles
and installs just fine for me (on -current).

Is anyone other than the OP having trouble compiling/installing the
perl5.8 port?
