what happens if you connect again? maybe it's loader initializing the serial

Doesn't o anything until reboot ... I'm suspecting its less of a 'console 
redirect' then ust a BIOS redirect :(  so I"ll have to install the OS 
first, then enabl th serial console for that second 'stage' of the reboot 
. .. :(
