I've changed the order in fstab, and that doesn't work.

I also changed it so /usr/ports on the server mounts to /home on 
the client, and /home on the server mounts as /usr/ports on the 
client (I thought this is what you could have meant as well).

Which, gives the results of:  /usr/ports mounts with the server's 
home, but /home does not mount with the server's /usr/ports.

So it must be some strange peculiarity with /home on the client.  I
tried removing /home and re-making the dir, but that didn't seem to
have any effect either.
