I think I just got a panic

    Unfortunately that might be difficult, because only X really knows how
    to properly reset the video, and only X really knows how to render to
    the frame buffer.  We could attempt to make the appropriate video BIOS
    calls but it's a toss-up whether they would actually work.

I think you lost me there :-) I woke up this morning and it had done the 
buildworld/kernel without a panic, with X running in the background. 
Should I installworld and just hope it was a bug that was maybe fixed 
between the September ISO snapshot and STABLE?

I will play about and try to get a grip with debugging kernels when I 
get home, incase I experience any other panics.
