Aliases versus scripts

:just a general question here.  When you perform a task manually often, like
:cvsupping, do you find it better to write a script or just set up an alias
:to avoid typing a long command repeatedly?

:I'm trying to go beyond the basics and really leverage the system to
:simplify a lot of maintenance, since I've gone beyond workstations into
:networks.

    Most people use a cron job to automatically cvsup the e.g. CVS tree
    overnight.
