My versions of the logo can be used for any purpose as long as I am
credited. Since my versions are pretty much a trace of Joe's, I think
it's also logical that Joe should be credited for his work.
Additionally, I'm not sure (nobody is in fact) what intentions Joe had
with licensing his logo, since he officially owns the copyright.

(Catching up on email, here) I was never able to raise Joe, so the issue
is in a bit of limbo. Joe, to my knowledge, never explicitly released
the
image from copyright, so it may not be free to use. (That probably
extends to Devon's version, since it's derivative.) I am not a copyright
lawyer, of course.

The best thing would be to have a logo that was done and assigned to the
project - the one we have now is a good banner but not so hot as a logo.
Just to be clear here , is Fred the mascot but not the logo?
How do you feel about this?
No, the point is that the image that Joe gave us isn't great as a logo
because it's not in a high resolution and it's not available to us in a
vector format. It is now, but I made it, and nobody's familiar with what
copyright Joe set on it. Until we know that, it'd be difficult to use
that logo for anything commercial, which would be doable if it was
licensed in a BSD-style license. So I suppose we're discussing using a
different one? I don't know.
