checkpointing dumps core

:BTW, "checkpt" should print "checkpt -r file.ckpt" instead of "checkpt

    Ah, you didn't say that checkpt -r was core'ing.  I thought you meant
    that ^E was causing a core.

    I should have tried restoring it... yes, now I am seeing the seg fault.

    I'll try to track down the problem.
