Which GCC is for stable?

gcc 3.4 *is* being installed per default. if you want to compile something 
with gcc 3.4, just setenv CCVER gcc34 and /usr/bin/cc will be a gcc 3.4

and you can buildworld/kernel with it, tho, as david said, it's not yet 
recommended (sadly)
