If you 'cat /dev/sndstat' you will see what's actually functioning.
Probably something close to what you found in dmesg.

Find an audio player and try playing something, or cat a file to
/dev/dsp0.  It may already be working.

Also, this is the test@ mailing list, for testing posts to the mailing
lists.  You would be better off asking this on the
users at dragonflybsd.org mailing list.
