    Ok, I am going to import these patches but I am also going to
    convert the contrib/ section to an unadulterated archive extract
    and get rid of all the conversion junk it does now.

    It may be a day or two before I can commit it, this is just a
    head's up so nobody else tries applying these patches or update
    the contrib/ code.
