Have you tried contacting Scott or Chris from www.pfsense.com ?   They are
the guys who initially did the BSDinstaller (and newer versions).  I
haven't talked to them in quite some time, but I'm pretty sure they have a
different list/irc-channel that they use now.

I'm sure they'd be glad to answer any questions or point you in the right
direction.
