    Hmm.  Very odd.  The ad4 probe is using BIOSDMA.  The ATA controller
    doesn't recognize the ATA device.  Its probing 'Generic PCI ATA
    controller' at PCI devices 31.1 and 31.2.

    Could you boot the CD and do a 'pciconf -l'?  It might simply be 
    a matter of adding PCI IDs to recognize the controller.
