Note that this 22M is only disk space - the debug information is
stripped when the kernel is loaded into memory (and when copied to
kernel.old).  The stripped kernel is more like 4M.  For more info see:

Chris - exactly what was wanted.
IOW - absent debug, approximately 3MB in
October 2004, approximately 4MB as of
March of 2005, or not significantly different
from a FreeBSD 4.X GENERIC kernel size.
