Does it happen too if you fire up mixer(1) from a shell? I switched over
my soundcard with an sblive and it does it too.

Do you also see something similar to this in your dmesg?

WARNING: "dsp" (0xsomeaddr) is usurping "mixer"'s (0xsomeaddr) cdevsw[]
