Hi,

   Ignorant, non-hacker question here: Would the location of
the partitions on the disk (inner cylinders, outer cylinders,
middle .., etc.) affect the file operation benchmarks?  (As
I understand all these OS's are on one computer, iirc.  So,
the comparison of the times to access their respective slices
may not be on a "level playing field."  Or am I totally wrong?)
