smbfs

I dont know if anybody else has seen this, but after installing off the iso, I 
cant seem to get smbfs to work again.  libiconv is not built as a module, and 
even as a kernel option i get 
mount_smbfs: vfsload(smbfs): Exec format error
whenever I try to mount something.  Any suggestions or ideas?  Thanks
