I recall vaguely using "device pcm" and having it work with a cs42xx chip in
a Dell Optiplex, under FreeBSD.  Unfortunately, that computer is no longer
set up that way, so I can't confirm.  According to 'man pcm', cs4236 cards
are fully supported, so it should work...
