Hi Daniel,
Where are you at right now in your port of Hammer to Linux?
I'm working with a few people on a project to use Hammer on Slackware and
would like to prevent duplicating the invention of the wheel where it can be
avoided.
We're hoping to find source that's ready to be packaged up that we can make
available for the new Slackware 13 release which is imminent.
I think Daniel is somewhere in mid Asia at the moment, so I'll answer
for him.
Read support seems to work alright, but no historical access yet. Write
support does not exist, nor does the use of the page/buffer cache or any
hammer-internal locking.
The code base was designed to allow for easy porting and updating, so it
should be simple to add these features (given you know how to do the
bsd-equivalent in linux).
I don't think that the sources are anywhere close to a state to be used
in production, but Daniel indicated that he's interested in working on
it further, time permitting (he's still doing his CS undergrad). I
think if somebody steps up and wants to finish the port, this would be a
very good thing as well. Just let me know if I can be of help.
cheers
simon
